Healthy Sports Drink Ingredients
16 oz. coconut water
1/2 cup organic blueberries (could use other berries as well)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 drop orange essential oil
1 drop peppermint essential oil
1 drop lemon essential oil
1 pinch of pink salt
2 cups ice cubes
1 scoop of Brain Calm Magnesium

Put all the ingredients together in a blender and blend up.

Growing up, I used to love Gatorade and powerade and would drink these whenever I had the chance. Unfortunately, these drinks are LOADED with sugar, artificial sweeteners, preservatives and additives. They are highly toxic and damaging to the body. Fortunately, we can make our own sports drink with various natural ingredients that enhance our health while satisfying our thirst and providing key nutrients to help us excel under heat and duress.
This drink uses coconut water which is naturally rich in potassium along with berries and essential oils for anti-oxidants. Even the vanilla extract has powerful performance enhancing anti-oxidants that will help you deal with oxidative stress from athletic activity more effectively. Orange and lemon essential oils are rich in vitamin C and vitamin P (also called citrus bioflavonoids) which helps improve blood flow and tissue oxygenation.
I also love putting the Brain Calm magnesium in this as it is loaded with magnesium L-threonate which has been shown to cross the blood brain barrier and reduce excitatory activity in the brain. This is really good for mental focus, reducing anxiety and improving learning and memory! The stevia sweetened fruit punch flavor tastes great as well!!
This is a perfect replacement for Gatorade or Powerade and is fantastic to have on hand during long workouts and/or playing various sporting events. Your kids will love it and you can rest assured they won’t be tempted to get the sugary soft drinks and “health drinks.”
