Shirley has lived all over the United States and currently resides in Florida. She has been married for 32 years, and has traveled extensively with her husband in the military. She has enjoyed living in so many places because it has given her the opportunity to get to know people from every walk of life. She also has had the opportunity to reinvent herself with each military move to become the woman she is today.
Shirley has two children. Shortly after giving birth to her son she began to experience food allergies and hormonal difficulties. She was bounced from doctor to doctor. After the birth of her daughter she finally found a doctor who treated holistically and was diagnosed with IBS and Graves’ disease.
“I didn’t want to be radiated and learned all I could. I cleaned up my diet and began to see food as medicine. I worked with great doctors and used the incredible power of supplementation. My health was good until 2014 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I incorporated the best of modern medicine and alternative care to treat the cancer.”
Shirley helped to make a new procedure using her thighs to create breast after a double mastectomy. She created a TedX Talk to share her story. She wanted to share with other woman that they have choices. “We are in control of our bodies and health. Hard does not mean impossible.”
Shirley has a strong personal faith with an underlining belief that our minds can be altered for the better by the power of positive thinking and a change in perspective. Shirley is cancer free.
For more than twenty years Shirley has shared her passion for good heath- involving faith, eating right, exercising and supplementing with others. It has become a passion of Shirley’s to research and study all health related items. Shirley loves the ocean and enjoys meeting new people, laughing and enjoying life.
A friend introduced Shirley to Dr. Jockers and she began following online. She has enjoyed reading his post and watching his videos. In January of 2018 she reached out to Dr. Jockers inquiring about a position for work. In March of 2018, Shirley came on board to help with the recipes and the writing behind the Dr. Jockers team. “I am excited and proud to be a part of the team.”
