Instructions:

Step #1:  Pour the juice into a small pot or pan. Take the beef gelatin and “dust” it evenly over the juice.

Step #2:  Let the gelatin absorb into the juice which will take a minute or 2. It will look wrinkly and that is normal.  Mix it all together once the gelatin has absorbed into the liquid.

Step #3:  Place the pot or pan over medium heat on the stove until the liquid boils and then pull it off and stir well until it is runny. Take a taste test to make sure it has the flavor you want.

Step #4:  If you want it sweeter than you can try adding ¼ tsp of vanilla extract and stevia to your preferred taste and stir again.

Step #5:  Use a dropper to transfer the liquid into the molds you want and set it in the refrigerator. It typically takes about an hour for small molds and 2-3 hours for larger molds.  Here are the smaller molds we used.

Step #6:  Once the Jello has set, remove the molds.

Step #7:  These can be stored in a cool dry place, but they are best stored in the refrigerator.

Dr Jockers Comments

I always loved gummy bears growing up and it is exciting to know that you can make these in a healthy fashion with grass-fed beef gelatin that provides collagen protein to heal the gut.  Our boys absolutely love this recipe as will you and your family!

You can find different juices you may want to use such as blueberry, cherry or pomegranate.  These are all rich in antioxidant polyphenolic compounds that help protect the digestive system and support the bodies defense against oxidative stress and inflammation.

I would recommend getting an organic juice as most fruit and especially berries and cherries are  highly sprayed with pesticides and herbicides that will make it into the juice if you are getting a conventional variety.  Unless you use cranberry or tart cherry, you will most likely need additional sweetener such as stevia, but feel free to use it if you enjoy the flavor better.

Be careful, you cannot make these with any form of collagen or bone broth protein as most forms do not gelatinize the liquid.  You specifically need gelatin and I prefer to get it from Vital Proteins, which uses 100% grass-fed beef for their collagen.
