I had an edible arrangement gift sent to me by a friend and I decided to use the ingredients along with some extra spinach that I had to throw this together. This recipe is rich in a wide variety of anti-oxidants and phytonutrients and tastes amazing! Made enough for me and my wife to enjoy for lunch.
Green Fruit Smoothie Ingredients:
8 pineapple chuncks
8 organic strawberries
8 organic red grapes
1 kale leaf – cut into smaller pieces
2 handfulls of organic spinach
2 cups of organic coconut milk (carton)
2-3 scoops of high quality protein powder
Green Fruit Smoothie Instructions:
Put all the ingredients in the blender and mix until smooth and creamy!
Dr Jockers Comments:
This is more fruit than I normally do or recommend but it created a tasty way to enjoy getting more high quality greens into my wife and I! Adding in the coconut milk and the extra coconut oil makes this smooth and creamy.
Pineapple is rich in bromelein which is an anti-inflammatory proteolytic enzyme while red grapes have the powerful anti-oxidant resveratrol. Strawberries are loaded with anthocyanin anti-oxidants while kale and spinach are rich in blood purifying chlorophyll and caroteinoids like lutein and zeaxanthin that support the health of our skin and nervous system.
I felt great after drinking this and the extra fruit sugar didn’t seem to effect me in a negative way. I wouldn’t consume it on a daily basis but it is a great drink on a higher carbohydrate day. This is also nice after a great workout. It also is more child friendly than a typical green drink and may be a great strategy for you to get more greens into your children’s body.
