Most of us think we know what “healthy eating” looks like, but I argue that several foods hiding in plain sight in the average pantry and fridge are quietly driving inflammation, blood sugar swings, and hormone imbalance.

In this solo deep dive, I walk through 10 common offenders, from table salt and vegetable oils to soy, processed meat, popcorn, non-organic produce, artificial sweeteners, margarine, canned tomatoes, and modern wheat, and gives a practical swap for each one.

The 10 Foods to Rethink, and What to Use Instead

I break down why commercial table salt, seed oils, conventional soy, poor-quality meat, microwaved popcorn, non-organic produce, artificial sweeteners, margarine, canned tomatoes, and modern wheat products create outsized problems for gut health, hormone balance, and metabolism.

In this episode, I offer a cleaner, equally convenient alternative for each: mineral-rich salts, cooking fats that hold up to heat, fermented and organic soy, pasture-raised meat, air-popped popcorn, the clean 15 and dirty dozen framework, natural sweeteners, grass-fed butter, glass-jarred tomatoes, and long-fermented sourdough.

Meals That Put the Swaps Into Practice

To make the swaps easy to apply, I share three of my favorite meals: a wild-caught salmon filet with arugula, tomatoes, cucumber, and olives; grass-fed beef with a Mediterranean salad and a butter-and-cinnamon baked sweet potato; and a blood-sugar-friendly dessert of Greek yogurt, stevia-flavored collagen peptides, and fresh berries. Each one is built to support fat burning, gut health, and lower inflammation while still tasting great.
