What Are Vaccine Adjuvants and How Do They Work?
A vaccine adjuvant is one of the ingredients used in certain vaccines. Their purpose is to help to create a stronger immune response in those who are receiving the vaccine. The idea is to make vaccines work better and be more effective by using adjuvants.
There are vaccines that are created by using weakened or killed germs that already have naturally occurred adjuvants. However, most vaccines we use today, instead of using an entire bacteria or virus, only use a tiny component of them. As a result, they use adjuvants to create a strong enough immune response to protect you from the virus or bacteria the vaccine is used against. These adjuvants are responsible for local and systemic reactions, including swelling, redness, pain, body aches, and fever that you may experience after receiving a vaccine.
Aluminum salts are one form of adjuvants that have been used for over 70 years in many vaccines since the diphtheria and tetanus vaccines. Since then, other adjuvants have been developed for various vaccines, including the AS04, a monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL) and aluminum salt, the MF59, an oil in water emulsion composed of squalene, the ASO1b, a monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL) and QS-21, a natural compound extracted from the Chilean soapbark tree, combined in a liposomal formulation, and the CpG 1018, a cytosine phosphate guanine (CpG), a synthetic form of DNA that mimics bacterial and viral genetic material.
While these vaccine adjuvants are claimed to be safe, approved, and monitored by the Centers for Disease Contol and Prevention (CDC) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), there are potential dangers when it comes to these vaccine adjuvants (1, 2, 3).
Potential Dangers of Vaccine Adjuvants
It is important to note that vaccine administration is a medical procedure and just like all medical products and procedures there are inherent risks. These risks may range from very minor side effects to potentially life altering health consequences.
Most people only experience mild issues such as redness, swelling and pain at the injection site and possibly fever, body aches, and chills for a couple of hours or a few days. However, there is a bigger problem when it comes to vaccine adjuvants.
Aluminum hydroxide is a potent neurotoxin that can interfere with cellular and metabolic processes in your nervous system and other tissues. As aluminum is not innately recognized by your body, the macrophages, or garbage collectors of dead and foreign debris, around the site of the infection from the vaccine, don’t recognize it as waste.
Since they don’t get rid of it, the aluminum vaccine adjuvants get transported to soft tissue and get a dump in your brain potentially causing neurological, brain health, neuromuscular, mental health, and other problems. Furthermore, vaccine adjuvants not only stimulate but they can irritate and damage your immune system. It may also result in aluminum toxicity, including toxicity in your central nervous system, bones, and kidneys, leading to long-term health complications.
Aluminum Load in Babies and Young Children
Since small and developing babies and children are given countless vaccines during their ‘wellness appointments’, they are the most vulnerable to the dangers of vaccine adjuvants. Remember, their bodies are still developing, their immune system is still vulnerable, and they are the ones who receive the most vaccines, unlike adults who may get the flu or travel vaccines or nothing at all.
Aluminum compounds in the form of Aluminum hydroxide and aluminum phosphate are contained in the following vaccines: diphtheria-tet-anus-pertussis (DTaP, Tdap), Haemophilus Influenzae, Pneumococcal (PCV), Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Anthrax, & Rabies vaccines.
The FDA limits the dosage to 0.85 mg of aluminum per vaccine to minimize exposure. Children following normal vaccine protocols receive up to 3.5 mg of aluminum in the first 6 months of life. A 2004 article published by the FDA states, “Research indicates that patients with impaired kidney function including premature neonates who receive aluminum at greater rates than 4-5 mcg per kilogram of body weight per day accumulate aluminum at levels associated with central nervous system and bone toxicity (4).”
Nonetheless, vaccines adjuvants hold potential dangers. They may lead to adverse immune reactions and long-term health complications in both children and adults (5, 6, 7, 8).

Vaccine Injury Court
The Office of Special Masters of the US Court of Federal Claims is also known as the vaccine injury court or vaccine court. They are in charge of any vaccine injury claims. Pharmaceutical companies are exempt from liability for vaccine injuries. It is not possible to file vaccine injury claims against vaccine manufacturers at state or federal civil courts but need to be filed at the vaccine injury court. In 1986, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Programs (NVICP) was created by the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA) due to the 1980s DPT vaccine scare. As of June 2020, $4.3 Billion vaccine injury compensation has been awarded.
The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) was created in response to the NCVIA. It is a national vaccine safety surveillance program run by the CDC and the FDA to monitor vaccine safety and detect vaccine-related safety and adverse events.
You can report vaccine injuries and related adverse events online or by filling out found on their site and mailing it to VAERS, P.O. Box 1100, Rockville, MD 20849-1100. For more information, you may also email info@VAERS.org or call 1-800-822-7967. You will receive an identification number. CDC or FDA scientists follow up on selected cases to obtain medical records to better understand the situation. Letters are also sent out a year after vaccination to check recovery status.
Though 30,000 reports are filed a year, not all are classified as serious. According to the CDC about “85-90% of the reports describe mild side effects such as fever, arm soreness, and crying or mild irritability”. Only the remaining 10 to 15 percent may be classified as serious if the vaccine injury resulted in permanent disability, hospitalization, life-threatening illness, or death. According to the CDC’s stand, these problems are rarely caused by the vaccination itself.
According to a Harvard publication, less than 1% of all vaccine injuries are ever reported to VAERS. This is because most doctors are not educated on how VAERS works and many don’t believe that serious adverse reactions occur from vaccinations.
According to the Harvard study, “Barriers to reporting include a lack of clinical awareness, uncertainty about when and what to report, as well as the burdens of reporting.” So when patients experience adverse reactions, they are usually brushed off or blamed on some other factor and they are never reported.
How To Detox From Vaccine Adjuvants

Most of your body is made up of water, so it is easy to understand that proper hydration is critical. Hydration also helps your body to detox from toxins through urine and sweat. I recommend that you start your day with 32 ounces of clean water. Drink water regularly throughout the day, at least 8 to 10 glasses on a normal day, and more if you are sweating a lot, exercising, detoxing, or feeling sick.
You may add some lemon, lime, or apple cider vinegar for additional cleansing benefits of cucumber, mint, herbs, or berries for taste. Additionally to water, eat plenty of hydrating vegetables and low glycemic-index fruits and drink green juices, green smoothies, bone broth, and herbal tea.
Anti-Inflammatory Nutrition Plan
Following an anti-inflammatory diet helps to reduce inflammation in your body. It supports your detoxification pathways and helps cellular repair. Remove all inflammatory foods, including refined sugar, gluten, refined oils, deep-fried and processed foods, conventional dairy, grain-fed meat and eggs, soda and sugary drinks, and foods that you are sensitive to.

Intermittent fasting is one of the easiest ways to experience the benefits of fasting. It cycles between not eating (fasting) and eating (feasting) over a period of time. Intermittent fasting helps cellular repair, increased autophagy, immune regulation, inflammation levels, and insulin sensitivity. It may also help to reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
If you are a beginner, start with the Simple Fast practicing 12 hours of fasting including your overnight sleep. Increase your fasting window gradually until you find what works the best for you. Most people do the best with the 16:8 approach involving 16 hours of fasting. Consider Getting Into Ketosis
Most people’s body relies on glucose from dietary carbs to create energy. However, when you switch to a healthier lower carbohydrate meal plan or practice fasting, your body won’t receive enough glucose and turns to dietary or stored body fat for energy. These fats get turned into ketones that enter your mitochondria inside your cells and then get converted into energy.
Ketone bodies β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) support mammalian survival during times of energy deficit. One way it does this is by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome, which suggests that ketosis and ketogenic diets offer anti-inflammatory benefits and reduce inflammation-related health issues. Ketosis may allow enhanced autophagy, reduced inflammation, improved mitochondrial biogenesis, improved brain health, and better mental sharpness.

Regular Sun Exposure and Grounding
Regular sun exposure helps to optimize your body’s vitamin D levels. Vitamin D is critical for your brain, bones, muscles, teeth, immune system, and overall health. Sun exposure also helps to boost your energy and mental health. Good quality sun exposure helps open up your detoxification pathways and supports your bodies resilience to pathogens.
Grounding is another way to support your body by using the electrical rhythms of the Earth. Walk around or simply stand barefoot outside on the grass or ground for at least 15 minutes a day. If you need to sit down, you can, as long as you stay connected to the Earth. This is also a fantastic time for meditation, gratitude, contemplation, or prayer. Support Lymphatic Health
Lymphatic cleansing is often ignored, yet it is so important for your health. Supporting your lymphatic health is an important way to support your detoxification pathways. Dry brushing is a daily practice that I recommend before showering. Use a brush on your dry skin and brush your body towards your heart in circular motions to stimulate your lymphatic system.

Daily rebounding is one of my favorite ways to stimulate my lymphatic system within just a short 5 to 10-minute session. It is also great for cardio, energy, and positive mood.
Additionally, you may want to try healing baths and try lymph-supporting herbs. Most of us go about our day taking shallow breaths to our chest. This is not optimal for oxygenation. Instead, aim to take deeper abdominal breaths. Abdominal breathing can reduce stress, anxiety, depression, inflammation, pain, and disease (63, 64).
This is how to practice abdominal breathing:
- Awareness of your breath
- Roll your shoulders back and slightly tip your head back
- Put your hand about an inch away from your navel.
- As you take a deep inhalation, your navel should expand out and hit your hand.
- As you exhale your abdomen should sink back in.

However, it is important that you take care of your liver and kidneys as well. Your liver is your primary detoxification organ. Your kidneys filter your blood to remove waste and support fluid balance. Once a molecule is processed by your liver, it goes back into circulation to be removed via your bile in your intestines or your kidneys before being eliminated through feces (67).
